Fair Work Statement
Our aim is to contribute positively to Scotland’s Fair Work agenda
At Borders Book Festival, we are committed to advancing the principles of Fair Work as set out by the Scottish Government.
We value our team and recognise that fair work practices are essential to delivering successful and inclusive events. As part of our commitment, we:
- Provide fair pay to all employees and freelancers, including payment of the Real Living Wage as a minimum.
- Offer appropriate channels for effective worker voice and communication.
- Promote diversity and inclusion, ensuring a working environment that is respectful, supportive and free from discrimination.
- Support training and development opportunities for staff, volunteers, and contractors to help them reach their potential.
- Do not use exploitative zero-hours contracts and offer flexible and transparent working arrangements.
- Take action to create a safe, healthy and supportive working environment, with clear policies on wellbeing and equality.
By embedding these principles, we aim to contribute positively to Scotland’s Fair Work agenda and to ensure that everyone involved in our events is treated with dignity and respect.
