Travel and parking information

Abbotsford (postcode TD6 9BQ) is close to Melrose in the Scottish Borders - and is easily accessible. Edinburgh (approx. 35 miles), Glasgow and Newcastle (approx. 70 miles) are all within striking distance. You can reach the Borders Book Festival by public transport via bus or train, or take your car.

TRAVELLING BY TRAIN

Train services run from Edinburgh Waverley to Tweedbank, roughly a mile from Abbotsford, and take just under an hour.

You can walk from Tweedbank train station taking only 20 minutes if you follow the signposted ‘Abbotsford Link’.

TRAVELLING BY CAR

Abbotsford is easily accessible by car less than 10 minutes drive from the main A68 and A7 trunk roads.

PARKING: Free parking (including disabled parking) is available at Abbotsford for the duration of the Baillie Gifford Borders Book Festival. Please note that the festival is expected to be busy, so spaces will be limited. It is therefore advisable to use public transport wherever possible.

TRAVELLING BY BUS

Bus services run from Edinburgh to Carlisle via Galashiels, taking just under 1.5 hours.
