How to Get Here
Travel and parking information
Melrose, perhaps the most picturesque town in the Scottish Borders, is easily accessible. Edinburgh (approx. 35 miles), Glasgow and Newcastle (approx. 70 miles) are all within striking distance. You can reach the Borders Book Festival by public transport via bus or train, or take your car.
TRAVELLING BY TRAIN
The Borders Railway connects Edinburgh Waverley with Tweedbank Station, about 1.5 miles away from the festival site. The route to the festival will be signposted from the station.
For more information about train travel visit www.scotrail.co.uk
TRAVELLING BY BUS
Direct journeys from Edinburgh to Melrose are available on service X62. Borders Buses also connect with the Borders Railway at Tweedbank and Galashiels to Melrose. Download your Borders Buses app to plan journeys.
TRAVELLING BY CAR
Melrose is easily accessible by car less than 5 minutes drive from the main A68 and A7 trunk roads.
PARKING: There is NO general parking at the Borders Book Festival. All parking is in Melrose town centre and is in easy reach of the festival venues.
Although we do have some limited, weather dependent, disabled parking for Blue Badge holders only, we highly recommend using the drop off point on Annay Road, where assistance from a member of the book festival team will be available.
