Hew Strachan

In memory of Francis Hamilton, former chairman of the Borders Book Festival who contributed an enormous amount to what it now is, Sir Hew comes to Melrose to talk about one of Francis’s great passions, military history. The author of the definitive history of the First World War, Hew was Professor of the History of War at Oxford University and is now Professor of International Relations at The University of St Andrews. Winner of many awards and the author of more than a dozen books, he is both immensely knowledgeable and a superb communicator.
