As part of our celebration of the tercentenary of the birth of Adam Smith, Richard will talk about The Theory of Moral Sentiments. With the political and economic focus on Smith’s other great work An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations, his second pioneering book is often ignored. But it may be more relevant to the 21st century. The acclaimed author and former Bishop of Edinburgh will bring the experiences of a remarkable life to bear on Smith’s thinking and perhaps find a modern context for it.
